Where I start
One happy day does not a happy man make One fine night ain't enough One bright midnight moon Won't put me in my tomb Even when the going gets rough
The sight of a single bird Don't mean she can be heard But her song is sung all the same A flower in the vase Don't mean spring is here to stay For love is springtime's game Two hearts in tune Will always howl at the moon Together and apart Wind sun and rain Will find me once again Ending where I start

Silence Hides
Slowly rising the blooming tide's in The birds are flying my way But I am tired and I feel torn apart Like a flower on the highway
The wind is howlin' lets not a sound in Through my window I see Shadows frozen the feeling flows in Like a bottle on a black sea
Where does silence hide There I can sing what's on my mind
In the morning I feel warm And I awake with a smile But by the time the moon shines  I've been down for a long while
And even if I could never find A place for my soul I'd keep walking 'til I found it And I wouldn't feel so low
Where does silence hide There I can sing what's on my mind Somebody's let down somebody's crying Somebody's knocking on my door Somebody's getting down somebody's moanin' And I can't take it no more
Where does silence hide There I can sing what's on my mind

Found Out 03:28
Found Out So you found out you love your best friend The years have made the way easy to wend Isn't love a funny little thing Does it feel like you're giving something up You get back what you give some call that luck Isn't luck a funny little thing So you found out you love your best friend Known it for so long but can't say when Isn't love a funny little thing

House Of Stone
When I was born The stones taught me to speak Now my words are strong And they're buried deep
Let me be the stone In the river beneath me So I can speak strong But with edges gone
And oh, my heart is my home And oh, I built a house of stone
If I was a bird And the world was my tree I'd sing for spring Make the leaves green as can be
Oh to be the bird To fly and sing And carry the news Of the blooming spring
And oh, my heart is my home And oh, I built a house of stone It's where good thoughts bloom My friends visit under the moon
My thoughts are heavy as stone But they fly like birds So I'll sing for spring And gently speak my words
I have made my home Beside the river Beneath the tree In my house of stone

Long Time Blossom Soul Long time blossom soul You're beautiful like the rising sun Soft just like a red red rose It has begun
Long time blossom soul The wind and sun are in your eyes High like birds in flight when you fly Up to the sky
It's been a long time But now I'm with you again And it seems as though we both know That this will never end
It's been a long time, Long time blossom soul
Long time blossom soul Sing for me and I'll sing for you I think you know what a sound we have found I know that it's true
It's been a long time But now I'm with you again And it seems as though we both know That this will never end
It's been a long time, Long time blossom soul
Long time blossom soul You're beautiful like the rising sun Soft just like a red red rose It has begun, it has begun

Shades of Evening I've suffered enough to know your game Sat down blue frown and round we go Where do we go And by and by into the sky the birds fly Today's the day we turn away knowing why Breathe love said she with sun in her eyes The truth lies  So I threw down my sword and I cried I'm alive And as we go we say hello to the moonlight Tonight we say goodbye instead of goodnight So in love with the lost shades of evening Shake my world put nothing in my stead So much for the love of the lover Who disbelieved in all things done and said I closed my eyes when I could see for me But somehow my bow mid-stage is for you What did you go? And as you go The seasons blow you through the sky The shades of evening fading as you fly

What Holds The Bone Into the silence inward ride I feel the moon pulling on the tide The movement of the feeling in my veins Roots awake in a summer rain
Breathe this light into my spine As its flowing My muscles hold the flames, the coals Brightly glowing
The dam broke down and the river came round As I pressed my hands into the ground Gonna build myself a little riverboat And I’m gonna sail her if she’ll float
What holds the bone, a home What holds the bone
Yonder coming is a bright new sun Gonna help some grow gonna burn some Some are gonna go spinning into the rain We all can teach and we all can sing
Breathe this sun into my mind as its shining My muscles hold the waves the rivers Always winding
Went back ten thousand years Same two hands for to heal Keep close this feeling I breathe To be woven I must weave
What holds the bone, a home What holds the bone

My Backyard 02:42
My Backyard Jane, Jane standing in the rain Your dog got loose and the bank's in flames Rain, rain I'm so sorry Jane I can't talk smooth
To the cops when you knocked On my door four in the morning Gunpoint back of my head I'm sorry I ever offered you by bed
Jane, Jane you said you'd take the next train Instead you went looking for cocaine And the rain sang sirens to your name Just one place
For you to go, should have known Should have bought you a ticket home But you smiled at me when I said I'm sorry I ever offered you my bed
Sunrise I don't mind you fire As long as I can see the moon But I'm locked in this cold room Because of you
Jane, Jane standing in the rain Your dog got loose and the bank's in flames Rain, rain I'm so sorry Jane I can't talk smooth
The fire died at half past five By which time my wrists were tied And the sky awoke from dreams of smoke But the flowers in my backyard all bloomed

Heart Of The Matter
If you intend to write You must open the book Out of sight Roving eyes must look
Strangers when they see you And their welcome isn't strange The danger of sharing And staring change
Just look at me now In love with ideas above the clouds Just look at me now
If one is to wonder in Caverns so deep They mustn't plunder in Thoughtless sleep
Walking down the road With my heart in my hand Waiting for someone Who can understand
Who can look at me now In love with ideas above the clouds Just look at me now
We go down to the heart of the matter Down to a part of the One Left me a path to follow Right back towards the sun
Just look at me now In love with ideas above the clouds Just look at me now
10.
She Caught a Feather
I watched a feather fall And I caught it in my hand The wheat fields waved the wind blue I just had to put out my hand
Sometimes luck finds me Face down beside the fire Sometimes luck finds me Facing the sun a silhouette
The mare in the meadow The brown grass beneath the snow Spring is a wild thing Summer falls from a bird's wing
Sometimes luck finds me Wondering in the right place Sometimes luck finds the one Thing you needed
But soon I will settle down Singing songs for the girl in the crown Cause she caught a feather too
The shadow of a bird is all she saw Cutting through the wind the feather falls Still she doesn't fully understand The moment she put out her hand
It was sometimes luck is like Water finds the easiest path to you Sometimes like is the Grace of a feather falling for you
Soon she will settle down Sowing seeds in the ground Cause she caught a feather too

Do You Hear It Do you hear it, do you hear the howlin' breeze? I can feel it blowing like the wind on the seas
Are you glad to wake up And watch sunlight fall On the wasted fields of your home How bad is bad enough When the road ain't even rough But your conscience won't leave you alone Alone
Well I've been told when I grow old I'll change my foolish mind Well I suppose there's room for change But I just don't know what kind What kind
Don't let them tell you, don't let them say That your love is wrong, it keeps me hanging Keeps me hanging like a sad sad song A sad song
Do you live to be free are you free to live To live your life as you please What's it take to give when you've got the most What puts your heart at ease
Do you hear it, do you hear the howlin' breeze? I can feel it blowing like the wind on the seas

about

Songs are written and some get played, while others wait quietly in notebooks to be remembered. Sometimes years go by until a song is given the chance to Become. “Where I Start” is an album consisting of music from faded pages, the bottom of stacks of notebooks; it’s an album to wake up the past, to bring old songs into a room full of instruments and see what happens.
