Shadow, bring me home Shadow, show me I’m not alone Shadow, bring me home And we’ll never be alone Hello darling, said the shadow Who said that? She asked in moonlight It is I, the shadow of the one you love He sleeps far from you now But I, being a shadow at night Am free to roam She lay amazed and began  To feel her own shadow It grew full of warmth, Filled with an essence like herbs  Brewing in a pot on top of Some ancestor’s oven You see, said the shadow, There are many worlds  Happening at once And you are here for but a moment Whereas I am constant,  For I am absence I have known your shadow Since the very first moon Whispered to the very first  Mushroom She smiled, and they all Bloomed in the moonlight // The wrecked ship, the long trek  The plans abandoned, the polished deck The train derailed, the last ship sailed Casey Jones in the belly of the whale // I am always standing between My shadow and the sun Such sweet communion  When the day is done The kin of my light The shadows that surround me The forms beyond us Constantly resounding The shadow of mortality One day seen by the child  With the bleeding knee The shadow of fear Hidden in the palm Of the swinging fist The shadow of love In the form of a dove Mourning, ever mourning Until it fades in flight Back into the sun // Now I know that she’s here I’m bound to listen real, Glisten darling My sisters tell me so I’m bound to grow with you And I’m bound to love you You are the part of me I see shining through Now she is in my world I’m gonna show such  Love to the girl My sisters understand I’m bound to hold your hand There’s such truth within you You are the part of me I see shining through Shadow, bring me home Shadow, show me I’m not alone Shadow, bring me home And we’ll never be alone

about

This album was made using only a cell phone as a recording device, a compilation of field recordings and spontaneous creations captured in the moment of their conception. The recordings were originally meant to be a reference, the seeds of songs I would later record in front of expensive microphones. I later realized there is so much magic in the first moments of a song’s existence.

Recorded, produced, and mixed by Eric George.
Mastered by Jer Coons.
